Nike MAG Officially Unveiled

“This project is exciting to me because it brings together three very passionate audiences: the Parkinson’s community, the sneakerheads and Back to the Future fans.” – Michael J. Fox.

A few moments ago, Nike officially unveiled the Nike Air Mag AKA “Marty McFly” shoe. As stated earlier, Nike announced that 1500 pairs of this shoe will be auctioned on eBay, nikemag.eBay.com, with all net proceeds going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The auction will begin tonight and end on September 18 (150 pairs will be posted on eBay per day for 10 days). The Nike Air Mag has been anticipated for the longest as it first showed its face in the 1989 ~~2015~~ released film Back to the Future.

Leading up to the release of the Nike Air Mag, a 50 million match grant was given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation by Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki; they will match all donations to the foundation, up to 50 million dollars, through the end of 2012.

“We wanted to translate the excitement people have for the ‘greatest shoe never made’ and for the Back to the Future into positive action,” said Mark Parker, CEO of Nike. “But the long term objective is to raise awareness so the Foundation can achieve their goal of eradicating Parkinson’s disease.

The Air Mag is the first rechargeable footwear from Nike were designed as an identical replica to the originals seen in the Back to the Future II movie. Some of the constant elements include the upper contours, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent Nike logo in the strap. The Nike Air Mag actually illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.

Nike Air Mag Release Info

The Nike Air Mag aka “Marty McFly” shoe has captured every eye in the sneaker community within the past 24 hours. Earlier today, we notified you that Mr. Marty McFly himself, Michael J. Fox will appear on David Letterman tonight with some details regarding this highly anticipated release; however, we have just learned from Nike CEO Mark Parker that there will be 1500 pairs auctioned on eBay. All of the proceeds will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. Stay tuned for the official date of the eBay auction.

Kasina x Dooly x Reebok Collection

Cartoon inspired sneakers have become a widely popular theme across the sneaker landscape. From superheroes to childhood favorites, what was once a Sunday morning hobby has quickly evolved into one of the most effective marketing tools for sneaker brands. Today, yet another cartoon character has made its way onto a sneaker, in a colorway that is sure to turn a few heads. This pair takes plays off of Dooly, a cartoon dinosaur character created in South Korea in 1983, and features a completely lime green, suede-based Reebok Court Victory Pump. The pair is accented with white hits as well as small details on the heel panel. The second pair shown in today’s preview features a tonal brown and navy based Reebok Phase 3 Runner. Nike Air Vortex ‘Suede’ Black & Grey

The V-Series is still going strong in 2011, with this strong batch of Air Vortexes on deck for October. Contrasting the over-the-top nature of a certain other 1980s retro, the simple subtlety of these two runners makes for a very wearable fall sneaker. Suede covers the uppers of both the grey and black pairs, with perforation appearing in the toe box. Expect a drop sometime next month at select retailers.

Michael J. Fox to Make Special Announcement on David Letterman Tonight

Michael J. Fox of Marty McFly fame will be appearing tonight on David Letterman's The Late Show at 11:30 PM EST, the same time Nike kicks off the “It’s About Time” event in LA. We expect a Nike Air Mag related announcement and we can only hope he wears that outfit. Tune in tonight.

Is Nike Taking Us ‘Back To The Future’?

When Nike gives you a call at midnight, you know it’s something good. With just a few hours notice Nike flew me out to LA for “a big announcement.” When they won’t tell you what it is until you get there, you know it’s something bigger than a new colorway of Dunks.

Upon arriving in the room, I found a box waiting for me with an iPod Shuffle with a personal message from Dr. Emmett Brown:

“Welcome to Los Angeles. If my calculations are correct, over the next 24 hours you are about to see some SERIOUS SH*T!”

Inside the box was an invite from to “IT’S ABOUT TIME…an unveiling that could change the course of time” as well as metal shield glasses.

The table of goodies that included mid 80′s candy, Throwback Pepsi (forumla from 1985), and a copy of Back To The Future all but confirmed the suspicions.

About a year ago we shared with you these documents of the Marty McFly Nike Air Mag shoes registered with the US Patent Office.

It looks like we’re getting closer to 2015 than we thought!

We have spotted a ton of intriguing Nike Zoom Rookie LWP colorways since its debut on the web earlier this summer. Up to this point, many will agree that the “Memphis Express” colorway stands above the rest; however, is the newly-surfaced Nike Zoom Rookie LWP “Eggplant” the new must-have colorway of this shoe? Recently, this shoe was revealed by NSW Basketball Footwear & Apparel Design Lead Marc Dolce. It features a scheme similar to that seen on the “Binary Blue” pair seeing that it possesses a pearly, Foamposite upper with multiple, black hints. To finish it off, this shoe is complimented with a translucent, blue tinted outsole.

Vac Tech (“VT”) technology has swept through the landscape of Nike footwear like a wildfire this year. From Nike Air Force 1 to Nike Dunk High, this seamless approach to creating unibody upper has become the talk-of-the-town for many sneakerheads. Today, another pair has been spotted that features a VT upper. Nice Kicks x adidas Originals Campus 80s “Game Day” Launch Event Recap

This past Friday, we officially released our collaborative effort with adidas Originals, the Campus 80s "Game Day", at the Nice Kicks shop and online at shop.nicekicks.com. To celebrate our release, we hosted a successful launch event party (Friday from 6PM-9PM) in which attendees partook in a number of activities such as getting their Campus 80s "Game Day" sneakers customized with our Nice Kicks branding irons. With DJ Protoge on the 1s and 2s, customers undoubtedly enjoyed the music entertainment all while munching on some tasty Earl Campbell barbecue and drinking cold beers. UNDFTD x Converse Poorman Weapon “San Francisco Exclusive”

UNDFTD's headed north this week, expanding to the Bay with a new storefront on Hayes. Filling the void (literally) left by HUF, the five strikes brand opens its doors Friday with some special product for the fine folks of San Fran. Inspired by the Giants, this Converse Poorman Weapon features a clean black canvas upper, orange nylon liner and waxed laces. A special clothing collection bearing the same colors, as well as one that utilizes the Oakland Athletics' team makeup, drops on Friday at 11 AM, when the shop opens its door.

Today, this 1987 brainchild, has been spotted in yet another colorway that not only accentuates the unique shape, but also makes for a great summer fashion piece. This particular pair features a white mesh and suede base that is accented with obsidian and tonal blue accents on the toe box, mudguard, outsole and top lace eyelets. Atmos x ASICS Gel-Lyte III

Atmos and ASICS collide in new collaborative rendition of the ASICS Gel Lyte III. This particular colorway features suede and mesh draped on the majority of the black upper. Puma Dallas Ketchup/Creme Brulee

Traditionally not a great culinary combination, Ketchup and Creme Brulee tones have been combined for a great overall colorway on this particular pair of Puma Dallas. Tonal red suede is draped over the entire upper, even hiding the side panel banding, while creme brulee off-white accents can be seen outlining the sole unit as well as the inner liner. UNDFTD Opening San Francisco Location

Dwight Howard Dunks on Giant Giraffe in adidas Crazy Light

No real animals were harmed in the making of this video, but a fake one was posterized. While in Asia, Dwight Howard did just about everything in the adidas adiZero Crazy Light and adidas adiPower Howard. Release Reminder: Air Jordan 3 “Stealth”

Tomorrow, September 3, Jordan Brand will release the third Air Jordan 3 colorway of the year (“True Blue”, “White Cement”) in the form of the “Stealth” Air Jordan 3. Unlike the other two previously mentioned Air Jordan 3s, this will be the first non-original colorway of MJ’s third signature model to release this year. The upper is comprised of two shades of grey, Stealth and Light Graphite, in the form of nubuck and the ever-so-popular cement print. Minimal Varsity Red hints, such as the laceholders, tongue border and Jumpman branding, provide color to this otherwise subtle shoe. Lastly, this shoe is complimented with a black midsole and a white outsole.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have spotted a few all-red creations from Nike (see Nike Dunk Low ‘Red Ripstop’, Nike Air Force 1 Low Varsity Red ‘Suede’). Today, we see the ever-intriguing all-red scheme on the Nike Dunk Hi model. This particular Dunk features a predominately mesh textured base with a suede quarter panel and a suede Swoosh. To finish it off, this shoe is complimented with a white midsole and a Sport Red outsole.

Today, we take a look at the three-sneaker Jordan Trunner LX 11 October 2011 Lineup. Jordan Brand will obviously supply us with subtle colorways of this trainer. The pair shown above mixes Black and Royal Blue on the upper, while another pair comes in a darker toned Obsidian suede base. Lastly, the third pair is constructed in Black and Team Orange suede. Nike Lunar Hypergamer White/Gorge Green & White/Midnight Navy

Nike Basketball went elbow deep into a grab bag of tech for the newest addition to the lineup, the Lunar Hypergamer. With a bulky Lunarlon midsole bolstered by a standard herringbone outsole, the base for the Hyperfuse upper is definitely solid. We checked out two sick, camo-covered colorways last month, and now two more team-friendly looks have landed in stores. My 5: Casey Veggies’ Sneaker Rotation

Who's really wavy? Casey Veggies, that's who. The 18-year-old MC has caught the attention of Jay-Z, torn up tracks with Tyler the Creator, and boasts Kevin Durant as a fan. Despite the flattering co-signs the un-signed rapper is as independent as they come. Raised in Inglewood but immersed in the Fairfax scene, Casey grew up hooping, skating, and rapping. If you recall, the “Pearl” Nike Air Foamposite Pro first re-released in 2009 to many people’s excitement; however, at the time, it was a very limited release seeing that Nike only stocked it in various House of Hoops retailers nationwide. UNDFTD x PUMA Clyde “Ripstop” Collection

PUMA and UNDFTD have been killing it with the Clyde this year. From the plush, ultra premium leather collection to the Cali-influenced Canvas drops, the UNDFTD x PUMA packs have been without flaw. They aren't stopping there, though. Previewed here are two of the four "Ripstop" sneakers, which will release on September at select accounts. No word has surfaced regarding the other two colors, but expect a preview soon.

Confirmed: Air Jordan 4 Military Blue Returning in June 2012

With the Air Jordan 4 White/Cement Grey-Black already confirmed as an early February release, it comes as no surprise that Jordan Brand will continue to release Air Jordan 4 colorways later in 2012. We have just confirmed through sources at NT that the Air Jordan 4 Military Blue/White will also be returning next year. This is great news as it has been nearly five years since we last saw this colorway hit shelves. Will this be a purchase you make ?

Confirmed: Air Jordan 12 “Obsidian” & “Playoff” for Summer 2012

Lockout or no lockout, the summer of 2012 will see "Playoffs". The Air Jordan 12 is next in line for a retro rollout. After an eight year hiatus the "Playoff" colorway will return in April 2012. Jordan Melo M8 “Blackout”

Carmelo Anthony was heavily involved in this year’s Future Sole Competition; he specifically chose the winning design, a version of the Jordan Melo M8 designed by Nick Daiber of Highland, IL. While we await detailed photos of the winning creation, a shot of the Jordan Melo M8 “Blackout” has surfaced on the web. It features a healthy dosage of patent leather and Flywire on the upper, with the latter technology smothering the entire side panel. Jordan Brand also incorporated visible Zoom Air in the forefoot. Stay tuned for more photos and information regarding the Jordan Melo M8.

Although the 2011 NBA Finals ended in June, there is still a piece of the Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat series to be had in the form of this Nike LeBron 8 PS “Finals”. If you recall, James debuted this shoe in game 3 of the Finals series to coincide with the Miami Heat’s red ‘Away’ jerseys. Nike’s Fuse technology covers the majority of the upper, while a Del Sol outlined Swoosh and White/Del Sol LeBron tongue logo, provide nice color compliments. The adidas Gazelle has been around since 1968. Over 40 years later, it's still around and popping up in stores. Today, a new pair has surfaced in a crisp, clean colorway. Grey suede is used for the entire upper, which is complimented with white accents on the three stripe logo along the side, the heel tab, tongue, liner and laces. fragment design's first batch of All Courts was understated and simple. Its go at the All Court 2 Low? Not so much. Dressed in the leopard print canvas, the whole collection is sure to garner your footwear some attention. The brown colorway, seen here, features true-to-leopard coloring, relies on details like copper colored eyelets, white contrast stitching and glossy branding on the heel tab. There's no confirmed U.S. released date for these, but hopefully the whole run will make it stateside.

Revisiting a color scheme we saw on the Zoom LeBron IV, "Graffiti," the LeBron 8 revealed at the game is dressed in white, black and red, and boasts "handwritten" motivational phrases all over. Earlier this month, we gave you a look at the Dave White x Air Jordan 1 “Wings for the Future” in which many of you took a strong liking to. Just two days away from its release (Thursday, September 1), we now have additional, detailed images of this retro. David White, an artist and Jordan fanatic, opted for a Black/White-Red colored Air Jordan 1 in a patriotic style. Seen here are the full details on the drop, which will include a limited run being released at 11 AM CST via Shop.NiceKicks.com. In-store customers can pick up their pairs at 6 PM at a true Texas style tailgate. Earl Campbell's BBQ meats and cold beer will be provided, DJ Protege will be on the tables and you will be able to brand your kicks with custom branding irons.

We have shown you multiple photo galleries of the Nike "Vac Tech" Premium Pack Haystack/Birch, and many of you have inquired about release info. We can now confirm that this three-sneaker pack will release on October 7, 2011, at select Nike retailers. Each model (Air Max 90, Dunk, Air Force 1) features a seamless, unibody upper colored in a wheat-like Haystack color. A Birch midsole compliments each design. Nike LeBron 8 V2 Low “Miami Night” Release Date

This past Friday, Nike Store confirmed that the Nike LeBron 8 V2 Low “Miami Night” would release at select Stateside retailers. Sadly, we have learned that this anticipated shoe will only release at one location as of now. The Nike LeBron 8 V2 Low “Miami Night” will release on September 2 exclusively at NikeTown in Miami, Florida. Due to the limited availability of this release, store employees will be handing out wristbands on Thursday, September 1 starting at 10:30AM for a chance at this summer release. Stay tuned for additional information regarding this shoe.

The last full week in August brought a nice mix of sneaker information (both old and new) to your favorite site. First off, we learned of the “Stealth” Air Jordan 3′s September 3 release date and received an intriguing, suede-textured Nike Air Force 1 in the Nice Kicks shop. Nike Air Vengeance Neutral Grey/Sport Red

The Nike V-Series, released in 1985, includes the Nike Vengeance, Venture and Vortex. All three models in this lineup feature vintage-runner looks that employ nylon uppers and suede overlays. Today, a new Nike Air Vengeance colorway has emerged for hipsters, runners and sneakerheads to enjoy. This particular pair features a white nylon based upper, and is complimented through grey and sport red accents on the suede overlay, laces, outsole, and inner liner. Nice Kicks Staff Picks

The team was feeling their Nikes this week, ranging from a surprise quickstrike of a classic Trainer to an upcoming, Miami-inspired hoops sneak, with everything else in between. It was several years back that I posted up the Nike Air Trainer SC II for Throwback Thursday and quickly saw from the 100+ comments (sadly after a server change we lost all of them) that I was not alone in my love for this once forgotten Trainer. This year it was a definite highlight to see the Trainer SC II return as a retro, but without the original colors it was bittersweet. Thankfully Nike has treated us all to a quickstrike release of the Trainer SC II in two of the original colors including my personal favorite, the Infrared one.

At last, I can wear an original classic without destroying an OG.
