Michael Jordan’s “The Shot” 20 Years Later

Posted: 07 May 2009 11:39 AM PDT

Michael Jordan's The Shot 20 Years Later

With the best-of-five first round series tied 2-2, Michael Jordan took charge of the Bulls in the final seconds of Game 5 when Chicago trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers by a point.  Michael Jordan hit a jumper with 0:06 left to put his team in good position to win the series.  On the Cav’s next possession, Craig Ehlo scored a go ahead bucket with only three ticks left on the game clock which looked to be their ticket to the next round.

With only seconds left, Michael Jordan caught an inbound pass and put up “The Shot”.  With time expiring while the ball was in the air, the shot came down through the hoop and took the Bulls to the next round.

It was 20 years ago today that in this defining moment Michael Jordan pulled off the unimaginable.  And the sneakers he wore while doing this?  None other than the Air Jordan 4 Black/Red.

Michael, thanks again for all the memories.

Nike Air 1/2 Cent Silver

Posted: 07 May 2009 10:11 AM PDT

Nike Air 1/2 Cent SilverPenny and Lil Penny put in work on the Nike Air 1/2 Cent, dropping the Varsity Royal colorway back in February to launch the Lil Penny kicks. Shortly thereafter we not only saw them begin to show up on the feet of Nice Kicks staffers, but also got a peek at the Fall Colorways.

Today we have a look at the Nike Air 1/2 Cent in the silver colorway. Of course all the elements of the first colorway are present. Pieces of each of the Air Penny lineup from 1-4, and the ever-popular Foamposite material. Metallic silver is applied to the Foamposite material, a little chrome on the Swoosh, and black to the rest of the uppers. Then it is finished off with a clear outsole.

Click here to let us know how you feel about this colorway.

Rocawear R+ Evolution

Posted: 07 May 2009 08:15 AM PDT

Jay-Z x Rocawear R+ EvolutionKanye told Jay he did a song with Coldplay, next thing you know Jay got a song with Coldplay. Looks like “Big Brother” is at it again, this time following little brother’s Yeezy’s with his own new Rocawear R+ Evolution sneaker.

Style cues from a number of popular silhouettes, the R+ Evolution is all the pieces of the latest trends. You can see the influence of shoes like the RT1, Puma First Round, and more. The extra high ankle, and even higher tongue seems almost standard issue this year in the footwear industry. Does Jay-Z still have enough clout to push this new Rocawear footwear? Only time will tell. Available June 1st.

Click here to check out the R+ Evolution, and let us know if you think Jay will outdo ‘Ye with these new kicks.

Kicks On Court: Artest Plays at His ‘Peak’ Performance

Posted: 07 May 2009 07:24 AM PDT

Kicks On Court

Having already spotted Ron Artest sporting his Protege PE less than a week ago, our Kicks On Court has now spotted Artest wearing another pocket-friendly sneaker on the hardwood. In game 2 of the Houston Rockets-Los Angeles Lakers series, Ron Artest laced up a PE version of the latest Peak sneaker.

If you recall, this Peak PE model is identical to that of Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Kidd’s Peak PE. Artest’s sneaker contains a predominately black leather upper with minimal red details throughout the base. The only other color featured on the base is the silver Peak logo located on the side panels. Which Ron Artest PE is better: the Protege PE or the Peak PE?
