Nike Zoom KD III on NikeiD

After speculation and hope the Nike Zoom KD III is now available on NikeiD. Kevin Durant’s third signature proves the first to get the iD treatment, and boy does it ever. Patent leather, nubuck, and tumbled leather are available for the upper as is patent Flywire and metallic mesh. A fade option is available on the underlay for flash while the choice between a cushioned or responsive midsole holds down performance. Will you be making a pair of KD III iDs? Better yet will you be copping? Answer all in the comment section.

Following Derrick Rose’s Fast World commercial, we have now spotted adidas Basketball’s “Fast World” Dwight Howard commercial. In this video, Dwight Howard talks about his one-of-a-kind approach to the game of basketball. Unlike Derrick Rose, Dwight Howard is nothing less than an extrovert, and he shows it on the court. As he describes, Orlando’s big man is always ‘laughing and tweeting’. Check out the video above to hear Dwight speak about his approach to the game. Also, check out glimpses of his upcoming adidas Super Beast.

Nike LeBron 8 PS Black/Varsity Red

Nike LeBron 8 PS Black/Varsity Red

For the second season in a row, LeBron James will rock a special version of his signature shoe in the postseason. This year though, it’s actually the third shoe he’ll wear, and is loaded with technology. Max Air, Zoom Air and Hyperfuse are all employed on the Nike LeBron 8 PS, which will help carry King James into the playoffs and with any luck, past the Celtics. This colorway will likely be worn when the Heat are on the road, thanks to its black upper and Varsity Red sock liner and Max Air heel. Select areas show have been colored white or red to complete the Miami color scheme. Does this colorway best serve the high tech hoops shoe, or is the Varsity Royal/Black pair the best look yet?

Nike Zoom Kobe VI “Chaos” New Photos

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 11:13 AM PST

Nike Zoom Kobe VI "Chaos"

The madness continues with the latest Nike Zoom Kobe VI. Like its predecessor, this “Chaos” makeup uses purple and cyber tones set to the tune of a white midsole. A bright shade of red lines the model for extra pop on this serious colorway. Release information is uncertain, but if the prior drops are any indication these will be limited and hard to get. Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for more info and tell us your thoughts on the Kobe VI “Chaos” in the comment section.

Nike All Court Mid Canvas TZ Black & White

Nike All Court Mid Canvas TZ Black & White

The last Nike All Court Mid we saw may have defined “limited,” thanks to a special Stüssy collaboration and “Friends & Family” release. The next group won’t be necessarily as hard to come by, but they will still be of Tier Zero designation. Both pairs are sans Swoosh but boast smooth vulcanized soles, waxed laces and the signature rubber toe cap. The first can be seen rocking an all white look with a black toe bumper and sole accent. The second relies instead on a black upper and white sole. Expect both kicks to land at select spots on the first of next month.

Multiple ESPN Broadcasters Have Had Shoe Contracts

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 10:13 AM PST

ESPN Personalities Have Had Nike Contracts

In mid-January, we notified you of the Reebok endorsement deal involving ESPN personality Erin Andrews. Was she the first ESPN member to endorse a sneaker brand? No. According to The New York Times, ESPN “College Gameday” broadcasters Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso have had deals with Nike for awhile. Corso described these agreements as ‘a joint arrangement that largely involves speaking engagements for the athletic shoe and apparel company’.

However, unlike Erin Andrews’ Reebok endorsement deal, Corso, Fowler and Herbstreit's deals with Nike were never announced publicly.

"We were unaware of these deals," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said. Krulewitz also defended the broadcasters from any mischievous acts involving this subject matter. "By any objective measure, Chris, Kirk and Lee's on-air work is unassailable. Their content has not been compromised by this relationship."

Specific details of these contract agreements have not been voiced publicly; yet, Nike spokesman Derek Kent shared a little bit of information in regards to the contract situation. "While we don't disclose the specific nature of our contracts," Kent said, "they have appeared as M.C.'s at various Nike events in the past."

Although ESPN Josh Krulewitz stated that ‘their content has not been compromised by this relationship’, this news raises a handful of questions.

"It's not just what's said or written but what stories are covered and the frame for the story," said Bob Steele, the director of the Prindle Institute for Ethics and a journalism professor at DePauw University. "It's the questions that are asked and not asked in an interview, and who gets interviewed."

As of now, “College GameDay" host Chris Fowler is "ending his minor association" with Nike "to avoid any potential perception issues."

What are your thoughts on ESPN broadcasters having shoe contracts with major brand? Does it shape, bend or alter their content or is it simply a way of expanding their individual brands? Let us know in the comment section below.
