| Josh Smith to Appear at Dick’s Sporting Goods Tomorrow Posted: 29 Nov 2010 12:58 PM PST Although the majority of the adidas Basketball attention surrounds the signature models of Dwight Howard and Derrick Rose (thanks to Slim Chin), Atlanta Hawks forward Josh Smith is quietly creating a buzz for the newly-designed adidas adiZero Infiltrate. The adidas adiZero Infiltrate is currently worn by many players in the NBA; however, Smith is the lead endorser of this basketball shoe. In an attempt to increase the attention on these kicks, Josh Smith will make an appearance at Dick’s Sporting Goods tomorrow, November 30th, from 6PM-7PM. Attendees will get a chance to meet Josh Smith and obtain his autograph. Additionally, one will be able to get a detailed look at the adidas adiZero Infiltrate, which is now available exclusively at Dick's Sporting Goods for $90 (online and in-store). The adidas adiZero Infiltrate, which is available in five colorways, contains a Sprintskin construction upper, an adiPRENE+ in the forefoot and a PU sockliner. | Leo Chang Speaks on Nike Zoom KD III Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:58 AM PST This past week, Leo Chang, one of Nike Basketball’s most notable designers, took to Facebook to field questions on his latest major undertaking. Kevin Durant’s third signature, the Zoom KD III, is the most talked about shoe in the lineup to date, thanks to his breakout performances over the last year or so. During the chat, Chang revealed some very interesting facts about the Zoom KD III, including the weight (13.5 ounces) and some of the shoe’s design influences. Durant, forever a team-first leader, allowed teammates to help with the design and included five lightning bolts on the underside of the outsole to represent the fact that there are five Thunder players on the court at any one time. The most intriguing news that came from the discussion has to be that the shoe will hit Nike iD in the spring 2011, allowing for vast customization options. For now though, a lone colorway (Black/White-Photo Blue-Team Orange) is available at select retailers. | Social Media adidas Superstars – Facebook & Twitter Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:28 AM PST Wouldn’t it be cool to represent your favorite social media networks by way of your feet? As much as our generation visits Facebook and Twitter on a daily basis, it would only be right for brands to attempt to create a Facebook/Twitter inspired sneaker. Glasgow-based designer Gerry Mckay took it into his own hands and created adidas Superstar mockups that are inspired by the respective social media networks. "Facebook as a brand is increasingly on the rise and I thought it would be interesting to see what it would look like if Adidas also released a limited edition Facebook Superstar, so I worked on my own design of the shoe and this is what I came up with," said Mckay. In detail, the “Facebook” adidas Superstar possesses the overall color scheme of the social media network, along with its name on the quarter panel. Also, the inner lining contains the definition of Facebook in blue letters. As for the “Twitter” adidas Superstar, it also uses the respective social media network’s color scheme and the Twitter ‘bird’ logo on the quarter panel. Unfortunately, this is just a mockup design by Glasgow-based designer Gerry Mckay, who has no affiliation with adidas. | Lane Crawford x Reebok Insta Pump Fury Posted: 29 Nov 2010 11:16 AM PST The 160th anniversary of Hong Kong based retailer Lane Crawford is being celebrated in a very unique way this year. To kick off the occasion, Lane Crawford has decided to team up with Reebok to produce their very own Insta Pump Fury. This pair, shown in detailed images below, features colors reminiscent of the Hong Kong skyline. The base is an orange mesh that is complimented with blue and purple hits on the lockdown cover, toe cap, and outsole. A white midsole stays relatively quiet but very bright turquoise tone is used on the inner liner to add to what is already a very bright pair of kicks. Look for these to release on December 2nd, 2010, in limited quantity. Tonal color blocking and Flywire redress the classic runner, keeping the lines the made it iconic. Both Silver/Yellow and Black/Pink colorways have popped up online with no word on price or release. | Stüssy x Hectic x UNDFTD x New Balance H574J Posted: 29 Nov 2010 10:28 AM PST Constant collaborators UNDFTD, Stüssy and Hectic teamed up with New Balance to create a special edition of the H574J. The sneaker-inspired boot owns an upper of tan water-resistant canvas, while an olive green mudguard is in place. The upper design itself has been altered and simplified to create a more boot-like upper. Boot laces, metal lace hoops and a rugged sole further ensure this hybrid will get you through the winter months. Expect more info and a release in the very near future. Champion also got in on the collaboration, designing two heather hoodies for the collection.
