2009 was a big year for the Nike Air Max 95. With OG reissues galore and some new colorways, lots of options were available. One pair that wasn’t made available, unfortunately, was this “Air Penny” design.
These use the classic Orlando Magic colors, with black working at the base on the lowest level and also the midfoot, tongue and toe. Royal blue, grey and white are also used as parts of the gradient look, with matching Air Max bags throughout the sole. 3M reflective works on the heel strip as well. The black midfoot is also done with mesh. Lil Penny appears on the insole as well, further designating these as an ode to Anfernee Hardaway and his little buddy.
Penny had Lil’ Penny. LeBron James had his whole family (The LeBrons). Now, Gilbert Arenas has a new sidekick (no, it is definitely not Javaris Crittenton) just in time for his birthday which is tomorrow, January 6th, 2009. View the video above to see Arenas’s sidekick spit a few bars while being surrounded by ladies…not artillery.
Two new Vans Rata Vulcs have hit retailers in a special construction. The boat/skate shoe hasn’t been seen much, especially with the turning of the seasons as the weather continues to worsen nationwide.
Both of the pairs seen here use a hemp construction and a darker upper. The first is black, with the exception of the white vulcanized sole and the matching cotton laces. The other pair is done in a unique shade of navy blue, with matching laces and an off-white sole. Both are available now at Bows and Arrows.
Many of you were enthused by the Vans Classics lineup for this past fall and rightfully so. The lineup definitely had some of Vans better models in a variety of colorways. For spring 2010, Vans will add to their Classics campaign by unleashing their “Grey” Pack.
This particular pack, which features the SK8-Hi, the Authentic, the Chukka and the Chukka Low, possesses sort of an all-grey everything look. Each silhouette owns an all-canvas upper, a white vulcanized rubber sole and black and white accents. This Vans Classics “Grey” Pack is now available at select retailers such as Bows & Arrows.
It may be Nike who’s been doing “East vs. West” for the last year, but adidas taking the concept even more literally, as this pack of Concord Mids represents the NBA All-Star Game conference battle.
For the West, a black leather upper is used. red leather accents are used on the 3 Stripes and strap, as well as the outsole and liner. 3-color laces are also used. For the East, white leather is used for the upper, with accents in blue everywhere red is used on the other pair. On both pairs gold is used on the heel labels as well as the metal tab on the strap. The game’s not until February, but you can pre-order these now at Crooked Tongues.
