| Posted: 07 Apr 2010 12:13 PM PDT To Chris Paul, family is everything. CP3 honors his granddad with the latest makeup of his third signature sneaker with Jordan Brand, the Jordan CP3.III. Nathaniel Jones, Chris’ granddad, was the first African-American to own a gas station in all of North Carolina. Known by many in Winston-Salem as “Jones’ Chevron”, the Chevron station opened in the middle of the civil rights movement in 1964. Because of his trust and spirit, Jones became a legend in the area. Chris Paul enjoyed many summers working at his granddad’s gas station working the cash register, rotating tires, and changing air filters. Much beyond their time at the station, Chris and his granddad had a very close relationship. Nathaniel Jones was at CP’s side from the time he was playing youth basketball all the way to sitting at his side as he signed his letter of intent to play for the hometown college of Wake Forest. Tragically the day after being at his grandson’s side while signing for Wake Forest, Nataniel Jones was murdered at the age of 61. Chris Paul scored 61 points in his first game after his granddad’s passing – one point for each year of his life. Chris continues to pay respect and honor his granddad with details on each of his signature shoes with Jordan Brand including this special edition honoring the station. Yesterday, we showed you Vans Vault’s tribute to the 2009 MLB World Series runner up club in the form of the Chukka LX “Philadelphia Phillies”. However, we now take a look at Vans Vault’s tribute to the team everybody seems to love or hate. The latest installment in the ongoing Opening Day Collection is this Vans Vault Old Skool LX “New York Yankees”. This particular Old Skool LX draws its design cues from the Brooklyn Bombers current ‘Home’ uniforms. A white canvas base is overlayed with an all-over navy blue pinstripe design and is finished with a white, vulcanized rubber sole. Its complimentary attributes include a navy blue inner lining, white shoelaces, and the Yankees logo in navy blue script on the heel. This Old Skool LX, which will be accompanied with a complimentary limited edition Majestic Authentic Jersey, will be available exclusively at DQM in New York on April 13th. | Nike Air Max 90 White/Team Red-Gold Posted: 07 Apr 2010 11:13 AM PDT Nike Sportswear has kept the classics coming in strong in 2010. The first three months of the year gave us an unprecedented amount of Air Max 1s, with the 90 lagging just behind in numbers. This next pair, which should hit retailers very soon, is the perfect sneaker for any 49ers fan, even if they have to keep them on ice until Fall. Team Red leather partners with white mesh to construct the upper. White leather and plastic are implemented on the Swoosh and eyelet pieces, respectively. A gold Air Max unit and liner break up the two-tone look. Be on the lookout for these at your local spot and Nike Store in the coming weeks. Throughout the second half of this season, Dwyane Wade has been lacing up the Air Jordan Air Wade 2010 night in and night out. Only one colorway (Black/Varsity Red-White) has released to the public so far, yet, Wade reminds us, via Twitter, that there are many more Air Jordan 2010 colorways out there. Would you purchase Wade’s Air Jordan 2010 PEs if they ever released? Recently, Wade posted close-up photos of four of his Air Jordan 2010s PEs on Twitter. Each PE seems to, not only possess a unique colorway, but also own a different texture makeup as well. The one shown above features a black/red color scheme done up in patent leather/leather. Wade stated that he only wore these one time this season. There is a similar colorway, shown after the jump, that a black/black-red color scheme done up in suede.
