Air Jordan 1 Dark Obsidian/Cerulean-White

On the heels of the release of the Air Jordan 1 “Urban Haze” is this Obsidian pair. Offering a lifestyle appeal, this pair of J’s is meant to be tucked under your jeans more than worn on the court. Thanks to a heads up from Daily Drop, you can grab them now.

Dark Obsidian is used for the entire upper, though the materials are mixed throughout. One the midfoot, heel and toe areas, pebbled leather is used. ON the quarter panels and toe box, perforated suede is in place. The outsole and liner are Cerulean blue, which works with the darker build of the upper to create a UNC look.

Video: Brandon Jennings Talks Sneakers & Under Armour

Posted: 19 Feb 2010 11:58 AM PST

Brandon Jennings’ rookie year got off to a bang, thanks in part to his record-breaking 51 point performance. While his progress has since slowed, the young point guard remains in the discussion for the 2009-2010 Rookie of the Year Award. Over All-Star Weekend, during which he participated in the Rookie-Sophomore Challenge, the young Bucks player spent a few minutes talking about sneakers.

In the above video, Jennings discusses his two favorite hoops sneakers, as well as his upcoming Under Armour signature, which we’ll see sometime in the near future. We’ve seen him sport a number of prototype sneakers in Kicks On Court all season, so we’re anxiously waiting to see the final version that will bear his name.

Nike Air Royal Mid “Cool Grey”

Posted: 19 Feb 2010 10:58 AM PST

Nike Air Royal Mid "Cool Grey"

The last pairs of the Air Royal Mid we saw used a new leather-wrapping technique along the upper. While the look was appreciated by many readers, others remarked that they preferred the standard look of this Mid cut Nike. If you are in the latter group, you’ll be glad to know that the latest pair maintains its original aesthetic.

The “Cool Grey” colorway utilizes leather for the majority of its upper. On the toe panels, a special leather that changes hues slightly depending on how you look at it is used. It’s very reminiscent of the finish on the Air Foamposite One “Eggplant.” The Swoosh is a third shade of grey. Red hits appear on the outsole, heel tab and midsole stitching.

Opinion: Stop the Restocks

Posted: 19 Feb 2010 09:58 AM PST

Stop the RestockOver the past couple of weeks a number of top releases from 2009 have all of a sudden “restocked” with little warning. Such releases include the “Fresh Water” Griffey Max, Quickstrike “Atlantic Blue” Penny II, “Auburn” Trainer SC, and most recently the “Eggplant” Foamposites.

While this second shipment may provide many of those who missed out the first time around a second chance to grab a great sneaker, generate easy revenue for both the footwear manufacturer and retailer, companies cannot afford look past the long term side effects of such programs.
