Posted: 03 Feb 2010 08:41 PM PST

Nike Zoom Kobe V Sample
One of Kobe’s latest silhouettes is now available in sample model. Like most of his signature kicks, the Nike Zoom Kobe V owns a Flywire design on the side panel but this time it was treated with crackled marble texture including the toe area. On the midfoot and lace section is a matte Black covering while a Black fabric and plastic wrap the heel. The Swoosh comes in White teaming up with the midsole. It has a Blue toe, laces, and inner liner. Since this is still a sample model, expect for the final production to hit the shelf in the near future. [NiceKicks]

Nike Air Royal Mid Purple

Posted: 03 Feb 2010 12:58 PM PST

Nike Air Royal Mid Purple

Your eyes deceive you. These Nike Air Royal Mids are definitely real shoes, despite the fact they look like toys at first glance. That effect is a result of the unique way these were created.

The purple leather that covers the entire shoe literally covers the Swoosh. The wrapped effect also lends itself to the toe and midfoot panels, while stitching interjects elsewhere. The entire sole uses the same light purple hue, providing a completely monochromatic look. For the liner, perforations were added to the leather. No word has been given about whether these will release stateside, but select overseas stores have them out now.

Onitsuka Tiger Unveils World’s First Tansu Trainer

Posted: 03 Feb 2010 12:28 PM PST

Onitsuka Tiger

You can expect to see a plethora of unique, innovative designs from the ongoing Made of Japan global campaign this year. With that said, Onitsuka Tiger will launch ‘Hidden Tiger’, a campaign that reveals cool, peculiar things about the Japanese heritage. For example, here we have photos of a giant shoe model inspired by Tansu, a Japanese woodworking tradition.

This Trainer incorporates all of Tansu’s elements including second-to-none carpentry, ironwork and carpentry. Amazingly, this wood design uses no nails; instead, the craftsmen use their own body weight and movement to eliminate unneeded wood to give the drawers a measurable fit. As for the drawers, they were originally used to conceal kimonos, medicinal herbs and swords in addition to other items. This giant shoe sculpture will be on tour throughout 2010 in various places throughout the world. Click here to view additional photos.

Nike Zoom Kobe V "Rice High School" PEs

Just days after spotting Kobe sporting a pair of his signature Nikes dedicated to his alma mater, another high school team’s Zoom Kobe Vs have surfaced. The privileged players at Rice High School had their own Zoom Kobe IV, but now they have both a home and away pair of this newer silhouette.

On the “Away” pair, yellow is used on the tongue,  Flywire mid-panel and toe box. Forest Green finishes the colorway on the midfoot and forefoot, and multicolor laces. The “Home” pair uses white for the entire upper. From what we can see, a yellow hell compliments the outsole, while green is used on the midsole and liner.

Nike Launches GreenXchange for Corporate Idea-Sharing

Posted: 03 Feb 2010 09:58 AM PST

Nike Launches GreenXchange

Although competition yields the continuous development of companies in the world today, the ultimate togetherness of an industry allows us to meet our green goals. With that said, Nike has now partnered with nine organizations including Best Buy, Yahoo, IDEO, nGenera, Outdoor Industry Association, 2degrees, Creative Commons and Mountain Equipment Co-Op to form an alliance named the GreenXchange.

The GreenXchange is simply a Web-based, common area that Nike says will allow “companies [to] collaborate and share intellectual property, which can lead to new sustainability business models and innovation.” The aforementioned companies can now bounce ideas off of each other in an attempt to prolong their longevity of well-being.

Wikinomics author Don Tapscott and Nike’s Sustainable Business and Innovation Lab can be credited for the upstart of the GreenXchange. The latter specifically thinks that one option may be Nike’s Environmentally Preferred Rubber, which possesses 96% fewer toxins than their regular rubber. Consequently, the greener footwear will undoubtedly market quicker if similar technologies were created by other companies.

It is obvious that companies are now realizing that the capacity to endure is the answer to continuous in the future. Therefore, unison is ideal. What are your thoughts on this alliance act?
