| atmos x New Balance 576 “Face Off 2 Turbo” Posted: 14 Aug 2009 12:09 PM PDT  Japanese retailer/brand atmos is back with another New Balance collaboration with the “Face Off 2 Turbo” - a pretty slick 576 remix in a white/teal/purple/lime colorway with a hodge-podge (albeit well-executed) of materials on it. The upper consists of a bevy of materials from the lenticular side-panel and back heel tab to the cement heel panel, but turn out the lights and the shoe reveals a glow-in-the-dark dot matrix pattern on the toe. Other detailing includes the two layers of speckled print on the midsole as well as the artwork on the tongue. While the reviews will most likely be mixed on these, atmos proves once again to push the envelope in the elaborate design that we see in each product drop. Expect availability to be highly limited. | New Balance Experience Store - Beijing Posted: 14 Aug 2009 11:54 AM PDT  In a recent move, New Balance has bolstered their international reputation by opening a store in Beijing. The brand looks to boast on their veteran experience of 103 years by ornamenting the shop’s interior with 1950s-60s oak décor as well as various circa 1900 New Balance accoutrements. New Balance plans to host a carnival in the store on opening day, August 15th. | Staple x New Balance 575 “White Pigeon” Release Info Posted: 14 Aug 2009 10:50 AM PDT  It may be incredible to think that it was already a year since the first Staple x New Balance 575 Pigeon released. The “White Pigeon” version will land in select stores next week on August 18th. Produced to the tune of 1,077 pairs, this release is not nearly as limited as other Staple projects; however, only 3 stores between US and Canada. The three stores you will be able to find the shoes include Reed Space (NY), Barney’s (LA), and Goodfoot (Toronto). Like it’s predecessor the Nike Hyperdunk, the shoe come in a variety of different colors and limited make ups. This colorway, Black/White-Varsity Red, has a familiar feel to one of the greatest of all time with Black Patent leather, white accents, and a red outsole. In case you weren’t aware of the tech specs of the Nike Hyperize, here is a quick breakdown. The entire length of the shoe features soft, Phylon midsole cushioning with ultra lightweight Lunar Lite in the forefoot and responsive Nike Zoom Air in the heel. The upper features a newly designed, more breathable Nike Flywire Technology that gives you lock down support along your entire foot. | New Release: New Balance 1700 at HUF Posted: 14 Aug 2009 09:46 AM PDT  A new oiled leather colorway of the New Balance 1700 is now available at HUF. The 1700 is a great running and active shoe and one of the more technical models featuring cushioning plates in the midsole. This is definitely a style we haven’t seen too much of from the NB camp featuring the oiled leather upper and dark grey accents. All in all, it looks like more of a casual shoe than performance, but with the same comfort and stability in most of the higher-end New Balance models. | Footwear Faceoff: Kanye West vs Pharrell Williams Posted: 14 Aug 2009 09:05 AM PDT 
Sure they’re old pics, but this is a matchup we couldn’t wait to get people’s take on. Widely considered the trend-setters of the Hypebeast generation, Kanye and Pharrell have been known to be leaders when it comes to street-fashion and sneakers. We sifted through the archives of pictures the super-producers/rappers had on the net, and found that both at one point in time were big fans of the Vans Era. The low-profile sneaker is a summer staple, and with the season wrapping up, there’s no better time to give it some shine in a match-up like this. Ok, it’s not that serious, but hit up the comments and let us know who you think wore the sneaker better.
