5 Minutes with Curren$y

Many probably learned about Curren$y from last November’s XXL cover story and his work with Mr. F Baby, but he’s been in the game for almost a decade putting in work and paying dues.

From his stints with two of the biggest labels to ever come out of New Orleans to the countless mixtapes to his recently released solo debut, This Ain’t No Mixtape, it was only a matter of time for the one they call The Hot Spitta.  He’s also got Fly Society, a clothing jump-off he started with pro skater Terry Kennedy, which is already making noise on the streets.

Of course, we wouldn’t be interested in Curren$y if he didn’t have a proper kick game.  We got a chance to ask him some questions about his favorite sneakers and recent purchases.  Maybe some of the readers could even help him find a pair.

Check it out after the jump.

Air Jordan 2009 Hall of Fame

Earlier today we gave you a look at the Jordan 6 Rings Hall of Fame commemorative colorway, now we have a look at the loved, and hated Air Jordan 2009.

The Air Jordan 2009 “Hall of Fame” has recently arrived at RMK. This commemorative colorway features the same graphics as we saw on the 6 Rings, but placed on the uppers rather than the midsole. What better way to honor Michael than with a limited black and red version of his latest sneaker?

Click here to take a closer look at these kicks.

K-Swiss Classic High

K-Swiss Classic High

Retro releases can get a little overdone at times. However, if it is an ultimate classic that hasn’t been seen in years, how can you not get excited? With that said, K-Swiss is set to re-release the ever-so-popular, all-white Classic High.

K-Swiss is not as relevant as they were in the past, however, you cannot overlook the infamous K-Swiss Classic High. Although this particular sneaker looks identical to the original release, K-Swiss has given the re-release a minor alteration. Mesh is located on the collar as opposed to the all-leather upper seen on the original. You have a lot of time to digest this exclusive news seeing that the K-Swiss Classic High will not release until Spring 2010.

Nike Blazer Mid Metallic Silver/Black-Electrolime

We have seen a plethora of brightly-colored sneaker releases this year such as the Hypermax "Tennis Ball", the Nike Air Max 1 “Highlighter” and the Nike Air Max 95 "Neon". Towards the end of the year, Nike will also release this eye-catching Nike Blazer Mid.

It features a primarily metallic silver upper with vivid electrolime accents in the form of the shoelaces and heel tab. In addition, the inner lining and outsole are also colored in electrolime as well. Usually, dark-colored sneakers are the style for the fall/winter seasons, therefore, this particular shoe will be a standout in the darkest of times. Available during the holiday season. Posted: 18 Jun 2009 09:21 AM PDT

Vans 106 SF Red

The re-release of classic running shoes is an ongoing theme from Nike this year. We have already seen the retro release of the Air Max 97 OG Colorway, the Air Max 1 OG Colorway and the Air Max 95 “Team Orange”. In addition, Nike has just dropped the classic Nike Air 180 “Ultramarine” as a quickstrike release.

For $90, the Air 180 “Ultramarine” will be in stock at select retailers such as Premier. It features a predominately white upper made of durasheen (toe box, side panels) and leather. The ultramarine details appear on the toe cap, swoosh and inner lining. In addition, pink accents are located throughout the base. Click here to view additional photos.
