Footwear Faceoff: Pharrell vs Amar’e Stoudemire

Posted: 13 Apr 2011 12:58 PM PDT

Footwear Faceoff

“I swear sports and music are so synonymous, because we wanna be them and they wanna be us.” – Drake, Thank Me Now.

Who says music artists and athletes can’t compete in some form? Obviously, Pharrell cannot keep up with S.T.A.T. on the court, and Amar’e wants no parts of Pharrell in a music studio; however, they both wear sneakers and are the colliding forces in our Footwear Faceoff today. Earlier this month, Pharrell was spotted at the The Blacks Annual Gala at Eden Roc while wearing the “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3, a sneaker that is expected to release later this year. On the contrary, New York Knicks star Amar’e Stoudemire was recently spotted walking out of the Harry Winston jewelry store while wearing the “Playoffs” Air Jordan 13. Who rocked the better sneaker? View the photos below, and let us know your choice in the voting poll.

Converse Chuck Taylor Premium Ox Natural & Navy

You may know the Chuck Taylor from its classic canvas construction, but the lifestyle staple looks pretty good in just about any material makeup. The latest round of Premium releases from Converse sees the Chuck Ox low top return to its roots, but in upgraded fashion. Thick canvas is used for these Natural and Navy uppers and top notch details are found throughout. Leather tongue tags, metal eyelets and leather trim are the most notable accents implemented. A lot of readers dug this twosome when we previewed it way back in December, and now either pair can be yours at Bows & Arrows.

Nike Vengeance

Nike has brought back the highly praised Nike ACG Lunar Vengeance Terra in an all white colorway just in time for the spring/summer. This pair maintains a sleek and sporty look with an almost completely monochromatic upper. The only other color on this creation derives from the grey outsole and grey branding on the tongue. In addition, the pair also makes use of a couple of materials. The majority of the shoe is covered in an open-hole mesh material, while the remaining areas are covered in suede (toe cap, Swoosh, and heel panel). View detailed images below.
