NIKE DUNK X PAULE MARROT (WMNS) Posted: 03 Apr 2009 07:46 AM PDT NIKE DUNK X PAULE MARROT (WMNS) This summer, Nike Sportswear chose to remix Nike materials within the Nike Sportswear collection with legendary French textile designer Paule Marrot Editions. Once loved by the British royal family and Jackie Kennedy, Paule Marrot Editions has been creating memorable designs since 1920. Nike Sportswear's footwear designers integrated Paule Marrot's ‘Aurore’ to inspire the Butterflies and Feathers prints on the new ‘Skinny’ Dunks, and the ‘Les Cerises’ print draped two colorways in all-over prints of Cherries on the shoes for Summer 09. ‘Les Cerises’ is adapted from the original Paule Marrot design – Bigareaux – and is inspired by the cherries sitting in front of her when she met her husband-to-be. Paule Marrot's textiles were heavily influenced by Marrot's early studies as a painter under impressionists such as Pierre-August Renoir, Raoul Dufy and Maurice Denis. Accents of the designs show up throughout the rest of the Nike Sportswear Summer 09 Dunk collection as well, not just on the ‘Skinny Dunks.’ The Nike designer team have used inspiration to create the original Nike Dunk Lows in unisex styles as well. Adidas Consortium Nizza Hi and Lo Posted: 03 Apr 2009 05:54 AM PDT Adidas Consortium Nizza Hi and Lo The release of the contemporary Consortium Series, Adidas unfold their vital use of stripes to commemorate 60 years. The Adidas Consortium Nizza Hi and Lo comes in a vibrant blue upper in a white mid sole, while the Lo comes in a grey upper. Both shoes features striped motif, reflective of Adidas' 3-Stripe legacy, the low top version combine more vibrant and exciting colors to give you that jump feeling, while the high top version uses its chilling blue and the rush of white stripe to subdue you. The Nizza Hi adds to its vulcanized heritage with a shiny, patent upper in a blue colorway with an orange trim sat on top of a crisp white midsole. Horizontal white stripes line the upper and overlay the iconic 3-Stripes. The Nizza Lo is a more understated affair and presents a tonal colorway of yellow on grey on a fleece material upper. Again the upper sports horizontal stripes, this time thinner, in yellow and offset against the ubiquitous 3-Stripes. These can be expected to release for the Spring/Summer season.
