This Week in Sneaks

Many of you have been patiently waiting to see what Dwyane Wade wears ever since his switch do Jordan Brand. With that said, we finally have spotted Wade’s Jordan sneaker preference. Check out our Kicks On Court: What Jordans did Wade Wear?

Following the highly anticipated Foamposite “Eggplant” that dropped during the 1st quarter of the year, Nike plans on releasing this Foamposite Copper during the same time in 2010. However, we have spotted Washington DC rapper Wale rocking them earlier.

As the NBA season began, we concluded the offseason by supplying you with a Player Profiles: The Legendary, The Past & The Present. Check out our latest installment which includes the sneaker lines of small forwards Julius Erving, Grant Hill and Carmelo Anthony.

In addition to the previously mentioned Kicks On Court, which highlighted Dwyane Wade, check out Wade as he discusses his move to Jordan Brand.

We have created a new column dubbed the Shop Shout in which showcase a respectable sneaker store in the nation. Stay tuned because your local shop may be next. Meanwhile, check out the Shop Shout: Sneaker Bistro.

Click here to view the release date information on the Nike SB Dunk High RESN "Gucci".

What are your first thoughts on the preliminary photos of the Jordan CP3.III?

Nike SB Stefan Janoski “Vacahyde”

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 11:58 AM PDT

Nike SB Stefan Janoski "Vacahyde"

We almost made it a whole week without a Stefan Janoski Twitter sneak peek! Lovers of the Savage Beast will love this one though, which has been dubbed the “Vacahyde” by the man himself. For our non-Spanish speakers, “Vaca” means cow in English.

This may be our least-revealing peek yet, but from the looks of it, the brown leather laces we’ve seen before are back again. The vulcanized sole for these Nike SBs is white again, with a matching tan pinstripe around the top. The hyde material covering the uppers uses a darker shade than the AF1s mentioned above, and is more brown than orange, also.

Hit the comments section and weigh in on these.

Kicks On Court: Hallowed Grounds on Halloween Eve

Posted: 31 Oct 2009 10:28 AM PDT

Kicks On Court

As we have seen throughout this year, Jordan Brand has a plethora of sneakers as part of their ever-so-popular basketball line. While sneakers such as the 6 Rings, the Jumpman Team Pro and the Pure Pressure dominated last year’s Kicks On Court, new sneakers including the Ol School III, the Element and the Hallowed Ground will be seen consistently this year in Kicks On Court.

With that said, the latter model mentioned was seen on a number of Jordan Brand members last night. Players such as Dwyane Wade, Gerald Wallace, Jared Jeffries and Tyson Chandler all sported the Hallowed Ground in their respective team colorways. The Jordan Hallowed Ground undoubtedly takes on a similar, bulky shape from the Jordan Olympia and the Air Jordan IX. Click here to view the players wearing the Hallowed Ground plus other kicks worn by LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Dirk Nowitzki and others.

Air Force Friday: Halloween 2006

Posted: 30 Oct 2009 02:43 PM PDT

To celebrate tomorrow’s holiday, today’s Air Force Friday features the Halloween Edition from 2006. This pair took the split-in-half feature from the “Scarface” Air Force Ones that released earlier that year. These also used the beloved patent leather material used by countless other shoes in 2006 and a Halloween mask also appeared on the tongue and near the heel.

Nike definitely accomplished their goal on making a shoe that would grab the attention of others whenever worn. Did you cop these back in 2006? Click here for more.

If you want your Air Force Friday story on the site, you have to do three simple things. First, become a Nice Kicks friend on Facebook. Secondly, become a member of the Nice Kicks group on Facebook. Last but not least, send your story along with a picture of you with the shoes to info@nicekicks.com. Title the subject Air Force Friday.

UBIQ x Puma "700 Level Pack"

Only one sports venue ever contained fans that cheered for the injuries of opposing player, thought “sportsmanship” was a four-letter word and pelted Santa Claus with snowballs. Santa Claus! The 700 Level of Philadelphia’s Veterans Field, where the Eagles played from 1971-2002 is paid tribute for its legacy as the “Nest of Death” with this pack from Puma and Philly retailer UBIQ.

Consisting of four sneakers, this pack dons green, white, silver and black to pay tribute to the city’s favorite team. Two Clydes and Two Mids are included, with a mixture of jersey mesh and leather used for their uppers. The heels all display the stadium’s years, 1971-2003 (The Eagles moved to Lincoln Field in ‘02 and the Phillies stayed through ‘03). The laces also feature to above 700 Level’s nickname for good measure.

Click here to check out this pack and look for these November 21st at select Puma accounts.

Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals “J Wings” Metallic Silver

Posted: 30 Oct 2009 12:28 PM PDT

Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals "J Wings" Metallic Silver

Designer Jeremy Scott’s work with adidas has received mixed reviews, from ‘heads and celebs alike. We first saw the J Wings sneaker almost a year ago in an all white colorway, and up now is this pair in metallic silver and black.

On any other shoe, the first thing that anyone would notice would be the metallic silver leather upper, but because the namesake wings along the side, we can immediately see that these aren’t your average adidas. The old school thick midsole and outsole are done in black, contrasting the stitching throughout. Scott’s signature also appears near the heel and the debray near the toes features a grill with “Jeremy” on the “teeth.”

Can you see yourself grabbing a pair of these, or are the wings, even if they are removable, just too much?

PF Flyers Sporting Life 2010 Preview

Posted: 30 Oct 2009 12:13 PM PDT

pf_opener1

Last night in New York City’s fashion district, PF Flyers held court with their Sporting Life 2010 collection preview. Many people remember PF Flyers from Benny the Jet Rodriguez’s famous fence jump from the ‘93 classic The Sandlot. PF Flyer’s has actually been in the game for over 70 years repping Posture and Function, hence the acronym PF. PF has also outfitted long time Celtics Great Bob Cousy with signature on court kicks throughout his illustrious career. They’ve even worked up a special Kelly Green Celtics colorway for Spring 2010.

The Sporting Life collection features kicks for both on and off the hardwood. From the reissue of the ‘43 classic, the Rambler Hi, to the newly designed sequin printed Glide. PF has produced an interesting take on materials from premium leather, to standard canvas, as they try to reclaim the position the brand once held in the ’40s and ’50s. Peruse the pictures of the collection after the jump, and decide for yourself whether you’ll be rocking some Posture and Function’s this spring.

Vans Vault Buffalo Boot LX

Posted: 30 Oct 2009 11:28 AM PDT

Vans Vault Buffalo Boot LX

For Spring of 2010, the Vans Vault will unveil a new pseudo-boot silhouette in the “Buffalo Boot LX,” which mixes up the looks of some of your favorite Vans shoes with an outdoor appeal. Debuting in both a black/black and Coffee/brown color-up, these channel the outdoor appeal of a hiking boot without losing that classic Vans look.

The white vulcanized sole may not be as tough as the one found on the Switchback, which we just took a look at a few weeks ago. The uppers utilize premium materials, mixing suede around theit toes and lower portions, while leather is worked in near the ankles. Rather than opt for a label like the Half Cabs we often see, Vans branding appears as a stamp on the outer side. On the top side, striped fuschia boot-style laces loop through gold metal eyelets. Expect these in March, 2010.

Hufnagel discusses the HUF team’s collaborations with Vans, Nike and Cons (RED), explaining of the latter: “…The money from the sales that Converse produces goes to give money to the Global Fund to buy anti-retroviral drugs for Africans living with AIDS.” Without giving too much away, Keith also gives us some insight on HUF products and what else to expect in the future.
