Posted: 12 Aug 2010 12:13 PM PDT The partnership between Nike and the city of New York is unlike any other to celebrate the game, spirit, and culture of basketball. To honor the heritage and tell the history of the sport of basketball, Nike transformed a space in Harlem as a Hall of Fame telling the story of the game. With many pieces on loan from the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Nike has curated telling timelines of the evolution of the ball, the jersey, and of course the shoes worn in the game. Beyond honoring famous moments in the NBA and international basketball, Nike worked hand in hand with curators in NYC to assemble a wall of fame of legendary streetballers who made their name on the courts of Harlem and most notably at Rucker Park. Interactive touch screens are also part of the space giving visitors the ultimate experience to learn more about the physical moves of NBA elites and local legends as well as in depth information about the latest Nike Basketball shoes. If you are in NYC, The Ball Room is a must visit. Doors are open to the public 11AM-6PM and the address is listed below: The Ball Room © Matt Halfhill for NiceKicks.com, 2010. | Permalink | One comment | Add to del.icio.us |
Posted: 12 Aug 2010 11:58 AM PDT The brand that saw the birth of basketball shoes goes back to basics with the Converse Drop Step. An old school high top vibe is pulled together with leather and synthetic materials for a breathable on court shoe. Converse Balls Technology and an EVA midsole provide the cushioning tech to bring new school performance to the throwback silhouette. We first saw the Drop Step this spring when Jim Jones, Cam’ron and the rest of team Dipset took home the hardware at the Band of Ballers tournament. No word if the gold pair they rocked will release, but for now Converse has them in four classic colorways. © Ian Stonebrook for NiceKicks.com, 2010. | Permalink | No comment | Add to del.icio.us |

Jay-Z x Nike Air Force 1 “All Black Everything” Collection Posted: 12 Aug 2010 10:28 AM PDT Last night, preview photos of the Jay-Z x Nike Air Force 1 “All Black Everything” Collection surfaced online to many people’s surprise. This collaboration, which only features two pairs of five new designs, is currently being auctioned off on eBay. Much like the Nike Air Force 1 WBF Collection, each pair involved in this collection is inspired by five countries including the USA, France, China, Puerto Rico and Brazil. However, this time, each sneaker is obviously done up in all-black. adidas TS Speedcut XR University Blue/White-Gold Posted: 12 Aug 2010 09:58 AM PDT Paging Mr. Big Shot! The brand new adidas TS Speecut XR finds itself in a University Blue/White-Gold colorway. Presumably for the Denver Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups, the new performance hoops model features an all university blue perforated upper with gold and white accents popping up all over the shoe. This shoe will certainly rival the competition packing speed oriented technology with a flashy look. Will the TS Speedcut XR be on your feet next basketball season?
