Adidas Fortitude Mid Black/Red

Adidas Fortitude Black/Red

Recently we showed you the Adidas Fortitude Mid. Reactions toward this sneaker were generally positive and today we have found another pair of this model. This pair features a mostly black leather upper with hits of red on much of the heel, inner lining, laces, and the three bottom. In addition to this well designed sneaker, a mesh toebox and suede toe cap add breathability and sophistication to a seemingly performance based sneaker.

Gary Warnett x Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke

Posted: 15 Aug 2010 10:28 AM PDT

The Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke is truly one of the most sought after sneakers on the market. It’s ability to customized and rarity have escalated prices to astonishing numbers. Recently, we have seen some great designs by artists such as Chris Stallion. In this sneak peak at a newly designed Air Force 1 Bespoke, Gary Warnett of online retailer Crooked Tongues shows that sometimes simple can be better. In this pair, the majority of the upper is composed of a waxed canvas. Minor details such as a navy and orange swoosh are all customized by Warnett to pay tribute to his favorite team, the New York Knicks. A white midsole and gum outsole complete these Bespokes.

Puerto Rico & Brazil Take the Court at Rucker Park

Puerto Rico vs. Brazil at Rucker Park

The Rucker Park in Harlem has played host to countless historic outdoor games and streetball stars, but this week the stage was set for a game that will forever be in the memories of basketball fans in Uptown.  Nike brought the World Basketball Festival to the city of New York and transformed the legendary outdoor courts with a first ever hardwood court, expanded bleachers, and even two video trons.

On Friday, two world elite basketball programs from Puerto Rico and Brazil warmed up for the Worlds at the Rucker Park in a scrimmage in front of a packed park.  NBA stars on court included Puerto Rico’s Carlos Arroyo, JJ Barea, Renaldo Balkman, as well as Brazil’s Leandro Barbosa, Anderson Varejao (Nene and Tiago Splitter sat out).  In true Rucker form the game was hosted by an MC on court and none other than streetball legend, DJ extraordinaire, and sneaker connoisseur, Bobbito Garcia.

While for the players on court the game was a great way to warm up for the World Championships in Turkey later this month, for fans it was the ultimate experience Nike brought to the city of NYC for the World Basketball Festival.

Kobe Bryant works with kids at Rucker Park

Posted: 15 Aug 2010 08:06 AM PDT

Kobe at Rucker Park

All week Nike has celebrated the game of basketball with the city of New York.  As much as NYC has been a wonderful host to the first ever World Basketball Festival, Nike has been a wonderful guest giving back to the city in a number of ways.  Yesterday morning at the famed Rucker Park in Harlem, five time NBA Champion Kobe Bryant worked with kids of NYC on their fundamentals in a special clinic that few will ever forget.

While a moment of pause occurred when Kobe stepped onto the court, it was only moments later that it was down to business.  Right away Kobe had the kids working on their defensive posture and lateral movements on the court followed by work on jump shots.  Following the 3 station clinic, Kobe gave inspiration words to the attendees of the morning events about what the love of the game means to him followed by a quick Q/A with Nike.

This Week In Sneaks

As part of the limitless World Basketball Festival sneaker releases, Nike collaborated with rap icon Jay-Z for a special Air Force 1 “All Black Everything” Collection. This five-sneaker grouping features Air Force 1s that pay tribute to countries including the USA, France, Puerto Rico, Brazil and China. Each pair is currently being auctioned off on eBay and the proceeds will benefit the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.

Until its holiday 2010 release, the Air Jordan 13 “Flint” will undoubtedly be on every sneaker enthusiast’s mind. Check out detailed photos of this highly-anticipated sneaker.

Although a lot of focus has centered around the multiple Nike Air Max LeBron VIII picture leaks, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII continues to surface in some form or fashion. Check out photos of this Nike Air Max LeBron VII Unreleased Sample.

The Air Jordan 7 “For the Love of the Game” Pack is arguably one of the most anticipated World Basketball Festival sneaker releases of this week. Take a look at Skull Candy’s collaborative effort with Jordan Brand which includes various audio-enabled accessories.

The Jordan Comfort Max 11 has been one of the more well-received, new Jordan silhouettes since photos released earlier this year. Check out a photo of DC rapper Wale wearing the White/Red Jordan Comfort Max 11.
