Posted: 15 Jan 2011 10:43 AM PST Our weekly Staff Picks are usually pretty diverse, but the Nice Kicks squad was clearly feeling offerings from the Nike, Inc. family this time around. Two teamers were all about Lunar-cushioned runners set to drop soon, while another found himself wanting a pair of grey retros. What was your favorite shoe from the past week? Head to comments section and let us know. Matt Halfhill Nike has a set of aggressive looking running shoes for 2011 including the Air Max 2011, Free Run, and this, the Nike LunarHaze. I have long been a fan of Lunar cushioning and especially in the running line. Add an aggressively bold upper and you have a winner. Oh yes, the colorway is anything but subtle as well. #win Read the rest of Nice Kicks Staff Picks© Alex Kroviak for NiceKicks.com, 2011. | Permalink | One comment | Add to del.icio.us |

Kicks On Court: Captain Jack Rocks New Jordan Take Flight in Beantown Posted: 15 Jan 2011 08:28 AM PST Last week, we showed you three upcoming Jordan Take Flight colorways in which a couple of you took a liking to (especially the Varsity Red/Black pair). Charlotte Bobcats wingman Stephen Jackson also turned heads with his vibrant orange Jordan Take Flight PE a couple of days ago. Our Kicks On Court spotted Jackson rocking another new Take Flight that is sure to catch your attention. In a losing effort against the Boston Celtics, Stephen Jackson laced up a primarily grey colored Jordan Take Flight. Orange contrast stitching is also a part of the upper, along with minimal orange Jumpman branding. Other features include a black tongue, a black midsole and a white outsole. Is this one of the best Jordan Take Flights we have seen or does his aforementioned orange PE take the cake? View these kicks plus more, worn by Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, Paul Pierce and others, below. Jordan CMFT 11 Viz Air Anthracite/Volt-Black Posted: 14 Jan 2011 03:43 PM PST While many of you are anticipating next Saturday’s “Cement Grey” Air Jordan 3 release, Jordan Brand has a couple of smaller releases set to release this Saturday. One of them will be this Jordan CMFT 11 Viz Air Anthracite/Volt-Black. It specifically contains a Volt colored Viz Air sole which coincides perfectly with the inner lining and tongue border of the same color. A crackled-like cement print design borders the entire silhouette just above the aforementioned sole, giving it a rather interesting, high-quality texture makeup. The Jordan CMFT 11 Viz Air Anthracite/Volt-Black will hit retailers tomorrow, January 15, 2011, for $110. Nike “2011 Black History Month” Pack Posted: 14 Jan 2011 03:43 PM PST Throughout this week, we have shown you a number of shoes that are inspired by Black History Month. We now have detailed photos of the entire Nike “2011 Black History Month” Pack which includes a Nike Air Force 1, a Nike Zoom Kobe VI, an Air Jordan 3 and a Converse Star Player EVO. The latter three models represent three African American, iconic basketball superstars of our time: Michael Jordan, Julius Erving and Kobe Bryant. Nike pays tribute to Dr. J (with the Converse Star Player EVO) for unifying the NBA and ABA, while the Nike Zoom Kobe VI represents Kobe’s unbelievable 81-point game in 2006. Last but not least, Michael Jordan is represented by the Air Jordan 3 for his timeless dunk from the free-throw line in 1987. As for this year’s “Black History Month” Nike Air Force 1, it is dressed in black Stetson leather and features woodblock cut print around the upper by artist Hele Woodruff. The predominately black base represents the basketball shoes that were worn on court in the early days, and the gold stands for the golden moment we all practice and train for. No word on when this pack will release, yet, stay tuned for additional information. Meanwhile, check out detailed photos of the entire pack and an official press release from Nike. This year's Black History Month Nike Air Force 1 celebrates the achievements and pioneering spirit of three important basketball players: Julius Irving, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant. There was a call to greatness for all three players, a moment in time that defined their careers, and changed the course of history for the sport of Basketball. For Dr. J, it was unifying the ABA and NBA with his finesse and high flying style. For Jordan, it was the '87 Slam Dunk title, the one that made kids all over draw chalk lines to jump from in their backyards. When Kobe scored 81 points in '06, it made you question what planet he was from. Each player laid the foundation for the next to elevate the game even further. The predominantly black upper of this Black History Month AF1 is a nod to the past, because in the early days of the sport of basketball, shoes on the court were almost always black. The hints of gold all around the shoe are reminders of the golden moment we all are striving to achieve. You'll also find a woodblock cut print around the upper by artist Hele Woodruff, adding another chapter to the pioneer story. With a premium Stetson leather upper, metal eyelets and accessories, gold stitching, and a clear tinted outsole, you'll see this isn't just your average AF1. This is a sneaker that celebrates a powerful pioneering spirit. Source: Hypebeast © George Kiel III for NiceKicks.com, 2011. | Permalink | 35 comments | Add to del.icio.us |
