Kicks On Court Weekly Recap

Today, we begin our Kicks On Court Weekly Recap in which we choose the five best standouts in our weekly column throughout the past seven days. This week, we spotted Gilbert Arenas rocking a football/training sneaker on court, while both Blake Griffin and D.J. Augustin posted career highs in their respective sneakers. Also, Washington Wizards guard Nick Young became the first player to rock a certain NikeiD sneaker on court, and Mike Bibby rocked today’s major Jordan Brand release in last night’s game against the New Orleans Hornets. Check out these standouts in our Kicks On Court Weekly Recap!

Does anything surprise you in regards to Gilbert Arenas’ sneaker selections anymore? From Dolce & Gabanna to Nike Air Diamond Turf Max 96, Arenas has dominated our Kicks On Court this season. While most players rocked black and gold sneakers on MLK Day, Arenas went with this classic football sneaker.

Jordan Brand released the “Cement Grey” Air Jordan 3 today, but Mike Bibby obviously received his pair early. A couple of weeks ago, we showcased him wearing the “Cement Grey” Air Jordan 3 Retro on court, and last night, our Kicks On Court spotted him rocking this sneaker again. Don’t be jealous; just get a pair!

Blake Griffin Scores 47 in “MLK” Nike Air Max Fly By

47 points from a rookie? Blake Griffin has been nothing less than amazing this season. His high-flying dunks have been at the top of ESPN’s Top 10 Plays consistently. On Martin Luther King Day, Griffin posted a season high (for every player in the NBA) 47 points while wearing the “MLK” Nike Air Max Fly By. Is a signature model on the way?

DJ Augustin’s Career High in Jordan Ol School III

Thursday night, Charlotte Bobcats point guard DJ Augustin scored a career high 31 points, dished out eight assists and grabbed five boards while wearing the Jordan Ol School III. Jordan Brand has released multiple colorways of the Jordan Ol School IV within the past few months; yet, it seems as if Augustin finds more success in the third installment of Jordan Brand’s Ol School series.

Posted: 22 Jan 2011 11:43 AM PST

Air Jordan 6 Black/Varsity Red

By now, many of you have secured your “Cement Grey” Air Jordan 3; however, let us take you back in time to another highly-anticipated major release. Around this time last year (January 22, 2010 to be exact), Jordan Brand released the Air Jordan 6 Black/Varsity Red. This release garnered a lot of attention especially in the months prior; yet, when news surfaced in regards to a possible Air Jordan 6 “Infrared” Pack, sneaker enthusiasts quickly fixed their eyes on the summer release. Therefore, was this Air Jordan 6 Black/Varsity Red release overlooked, let alone overrated?

Did you purchase the Air Jordan 6 Black/Varsity Red, and was it worth $150? If not, are you wishing you would have snagged them last January or did you purchase the “Infrared” Air Jordan 6s instead? How does this colorway rank amongst the other Air Jordan 6s that released last year ("Detroit Pistons", "Lakers", “White/Varsity Red”)? Lastly, was this one of your favorite Air Jordan Retro releases of 2010? Let us know your thoughts on the Air Jordan 6 Black/Varsity Red in the comment section below!

Nike WMNS Air Force 1 "Amor"

The new year has been quite generous for sneakerheads, jordan-heads, and even Air Force 1 fans. With the Nike Air Force 1 “Year of the Rabbit” set to release very soon, it is shocking to see Nike already planning their next big release; but don’t worry, this is a womens release only! As seen in photos below, this pair, set to release just before Valentines Day, makes use of a red and white color scheme. Solid red accents on the outsole, Swoosh, laces, and inner liner act as accent pieces to the fine stitched red details on the white upper base. Of the stitched designs, notable shapes include roses, hearts, and angels. Check out more photos below and let us know if this is a pair you’d cop for yourself or a special someone this February.

Snoop Dogg x adidas Originals Fremont

adidas Originals x Snoop Dog

Earlier this week, we previewed the first ever collaboration between adidas and Snoop Dogg. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a rapper collaborate with a major sneaker brand. From the Nike Air Yeezy to the upcoming Reebok x Swizz Beatz collaboration, some of the most successful projects have been with big name rappers.

Today additional photos have surfaced of the adidas Original x Snoop Dog collaboration. These photos show the simple yet personalized look adidas opted for on this particular pair. Black leather is highlighted with a Los Angeles Lakers-esque color scheme as gold and purple are used on the lace eyelets, heel cup, and ankle liner. The sneaker also makes use of droopy cartoon dog eyes on the tongue, a tribute to the rapper’s iconic name. The shoe is available at Sheikh .

A History of Celebrities Wearing the Air Jordan 9

Posted: 21 Jan 2011 03:13 PM PST

A History of Celebrities Wearing the Air Jordan 9

Many people are known for rocking the Air Jordan 9, but ironically Michael Jordan is not one of them. When MJ hung up his sneakers in ’93 to get away from the game and hit the diamond his sneakers released but were never hooped in by the man himself. Never the less, the AJ 9 was still dubbed classic worn on court by the likes of Penny Hardaway and off court by Tupac Shakur. OG releases and spaced out retros have seen the retirement J land on the feet of many. Check out Complex to see who.
