End of an Era: History of HUF’s Best SF themed Sneakers

Posted: 09 Mar 2011 01:13 PM PST

HUF Collab

As announced yesterday, HUF SF will be closing down its retail locations in San Francisco after nine years. The oft-visited sneaker/clothing hot spot, which opened in 2002, was definitely the most well-known location for exclusive kicks in the Bay Area. However, as stated in owner Keith Hufnagel’s official announcement (below), he felt it was time to put more focus on his in-line merchandise.

In attempt to bring back the fondest memories of the Bay Area hot spot, our staff compiled a list of HUF’s extraordinary San Francisco-themed sneakers. In this feature, you will all of HUF’s SF-themed kicks which include the “HUFquake” Nike Air Force 1 and the HUF x Nike SB Air Trainer “Gold Digger” among other kicks. Take a look at our End of an Era: History of HUF’s Best SF themed Sneakers.

The “HUFquake” Nike Air Force 1 & Dunk kick off our list of HUF’s best SF themed sneakers. HUF drew inspiration from one of San Francisco’s most well-known weather disasters: earthquakes. The crackle-like design throughout the toe area, midfoot and side panels, represent the separation of land when an earthquake takes place. Both of these releases undoubtedly shook the sneaker community up because they were both highly sought-after a few years ago. Huf released matching fitteds and clothing to complete the set.

Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah Pro Model 2.0 “St. Patrick’s Day”

Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:58 AM PST

Le Coq Sportif Pro Model 2.0

When you think of performance based sneakers, you don’t always think Le Coq Sportif. Likewise, when you think superb PEs, you don’t necessarily think of Joakim Noah. Today however, both have defied the odds in the form of this St Patrick’s Day themed Le Coq Sportif Joakim Noah Pro Model 2.0. This pair, which is reminiscent of teammate Derrick Rose’s PE’s, features a gradient upper that goes from a darker shade of green on the heel to a lighter green on the toe. White accents play a heavy roll in adding contrast on the midsole, laces and branding, while other details, such as Noah’s autograph on the heel, add a sweet touch. Check out more photos below.

Supra TK Society “Prime Time” Custom for Deion Sanders

Posted: 09 Mar 2011 09:28 AM PST

“It was recently announced that Neon” Deion Sander will be heading up 2011′s Football Hall of Fame class, which will be inducted come August. Sanders, who terrorized quarterbacks and special teams units his entire career, has long been a member of any sort of unofficial “signature sneaker hall of fame.” Supra linked up with Prime Time for the HOF class announcement and presented him with a special custom TK Society that pays tribute to his football career. Details include a handmade upper, “21″ embroidery and a special insole filled with images of Sanders on the field. In the above video, DJ Skee presents him with the sneaker on behalf of Supra. Only 21 pairs were made, so don’t expect to see these at your local shop anytime soon.
