Vans Era “Wingtip” Summer 2011 Posted: 26 Apr 2011 12:58 PM PDT The Vans Era “Wingtip” is a style that returns nearly every year. By taking a classic everyday shoe and adding just a few details and colors, Vans is able to successfully transform this simplistic model into a formal pair of kicks. Today, two new pairs have surfaced. The first pair, dubbed the Vans Era Lo Pro, features a slimmed down silhouette and makes use of a predominately white canvas upper. Hints of black can also be seen on the toe box and heel cup. The second pair shown today features a much darker physique as black covers the majority of this Vans Classic Era. White is used minimally on the mid-section of the toe box. Check out more photos below. Source: High Snobiety © Albert Lin for NiceKicks.com, 2011. | Permalink | One comment | Add to del.icio.us |
Posted: 26 Apr 2011 12:28 PM PDT Long before grey kicks were all the rage, New Balance was steadily churning out beauties in the collected chroma. This M996 received a warm but limited welcome back last year, and has thankfully returned to a wider audience for 2011. Dressed in a warm grey hue and offset by bone and white accents, this 1988 original is still as fresh today as it was 23 years ago. An ENCAP heel and C-Cap midsole make for a cushy ride and of course, a reflective N appears on the saddle. Grab a pair of these Newbies now at Nice Kicks or Shop.NiceKicks.com for $110. Leading off the pack is a “Mowabb” makeup, followed by a yellow/red release, and black based drop. An Air Moc sole is used while the upper gets creative exposing more foot. Signature Showdown: Best/Worst Sneaker Sequels Part I (Wingmen) Posted: 26 Apr 2011 11:18 AM PDT Oftentimes, the sequels to our favorite movies do not not cut it (American Pie, Home Alone, Matrix). Does the same apply to signature kicks? Over the years, we have been enamored with some of the first signature shoes the brands have created for players; however, the second signature in the line is either a drastic fail or sometimes better than the first. Today, we take a look at 12 signature lines that started off great and plummeted by the second shoe or vice versa. This time, we’re letting you make the decision. Check out the primary and secondary signature shoes of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, and others in our Signature Showdown: Best/Worst Sequels Part I (Wingmen). Was the FILA The Hill better than the FILA Grant Hill II? Did the Nike Air Pippen I garner your attention more than the Nike Air Pippen II? Let us know in the voting polls below each page. **Note**: Today’ Part I ONLY consists of the shooting guard/small forward signature lines. LeBron JamesNike Zoom Generation Worn: 2003-04 Nike Zoom LeBron II Worn: 2004-05 It’s kind of hard to compare LeBron James’ first signature shoe, the Nike Zoom Generation, with any sneaker in his line (unless you bring the latest creations into the picture). Designed by Tinker Hatfield, Eric Avar and Aaron Cooper, the Zoom Generations is still considered one of LeBron’s best signature models. However, the Nike Zoom LeBron II is also one of the better LeBrons ever created thanks to the double stacked Zoom Air unit and laser-etched drawings on the upper.

Nike Air Max Jr Black/Varsity Red Posted: 26 Apr 2011 10:58 AM PDT Whether it’s the picturesque swing silhouette or the legendary legacy of the signature player, the Ken Griffey Jr line of sneakers holds a special place in the hearts of many. With the recent release of the Air Griffey Max II still fresh on our minds, Nike has put out two more kicks perfect for paying tribute to The Kid. Loosely based on the Air Griffey Max 1, sitting on a Max Air sole and dressed in Torch, the Air Max Jr is a nod to the first ballot Hall of Famer’s respectable footwear repertoire. This Black/Varsity Reddrop features an aways agreeable color combo and is available now at Eastbay.
